The State Significant Development advancing New South Wales’ energy transition.

At a Glance

Capacity – 250 MW / 1000 MWh

Land size – 10 hectares

Location – Yanco (Riverina), New South Wales

For the economy – Up to 70 jobs during construction and 5 full-time jobs once operational.

For the climate – 365,000 tonnes of CO₂ offset per year and 79,000+ homes powered per day.

Project Overview

Located on the outskirts of the Yanco township, the BESS will enable more efficient use of renewable resources and support the transition to cleaner energy. The Yanco BESS will store electricity during low demand periods and feed it back into the grid at times of high demand, enhancing grid stability.

The project is strategically located near existing energy infrastructure in Leeton. The BESS’s proximity to the local substation helps to reduce costs and minimise environmental impacts associated with connection.

By facilitating the integration of renewable energy sources and reducing reliance on fossil fuels, the Yanco BESS will contribute to lowering greenhouse gas emissions.

Working with the community

Our approach aims to mitigate any project impacts and maximise opportunities for local communities. We are consulting early to facilitate discussions with near neighbours, residents and key stakeholders identify and address potential impacts and opportunities.

We are committed to building a positive legacy, together with the local community. To deliver lasting social and economic benefits, we are aiming to establish a Community Benefit Fund for the duration of the project. We are currently engaging with Leeton Shire Council to identify opportunities for benefit sharing.

We will also keep the community informed of project progress and impacts throughout the project lifecycle. Our project team is available to answer any questions and welcomes your feedback.
